Victory Garden Crockett Foundation has an active board, all of whom work or have worked in the agriculture industry. The board is responsible for the ongoing activities of The Crockett Foundation and makes all grant decisions.

Richard Barrett is a 1984 graduate of University of Massachusetts (UMass) Amherst Stockbridge School of Agriculture and holds an associate degree in Landscape Operations. He is a member of the Alpha Tau Gamma fraternity and is a past President of the UMass Amherst chapter. Raised in Millis, MA, Richard moved to Cape Cod in 1979, ultimately settling in Falmouth where he and his wife, Judy, have raised their three children.
Richard started Barrett Plumbing and Heating in Falmouth, in 1997. His company proudly serves the Upper Cape community and is an avid sponsor of Falmouth Youth and adult sports as well as Cape League Baseball’s Falmouth Commodores. Richard has been featured in the gas company’s Trade Connection. During his time at UMass, Richard was the original “tree guy”, sitting in a tree for 5 days to promote the Stockbridge School of Agriculture. Having been an active member of the Alpha Tau Gamma fraternity, he joined the Victory Garden Crockett Foundation of Trustees in 2015. Richard's goal as a Trustee is to promote organic gardening.

William Ferrara is a 1977 graduate of the University of Massachusetts Amherst Stockbridge School of Agriculture, and Alpha Tau Gamma Fraternity. He has owned a home in Plymouth for more than twenty-five years with his wife Phyllis, where they raised three boys. He has been a self-employed irrigation contractor on the South Shore and Cape Cod since 1994. He spends his spare time boating, enjoying Plymouth beach, and making wine.

Steve’s green thumb began when he was four years old. He grew an eight-pound pumpkin in his backyard and he was so proud of it. When Steve was 14, he worked as many hours as he could at the local farm that grew fruits, vegetables, annuals, perennials, and sold Christmas trees. During college, he continued to work weekends and holidays at the farm. After college, for over 20 years he would unload, price, and sell Christmas trees back at the farm. Most recently he has grown tomatoes, squash, peppers, scallions and oregano with his daughter in their seaside garden.
Steve graduated from University of Massachusetts Amherst Stockbridge School of Agriculture and holds an associate degree in Landscape Operations and Turf Grass Management. He also has a Bachelor of Science in Urban Forestry from the University of Massachusetts.

Mark has been involved in tree care since starting his own tree and landscape company in high school. As a college student, he found himself immersed in the arboriculture program at the University of Massachusetts (UMass) Amherst Stockbridge School of Agriculture. After earning an associate degree at Stockbridge, Mark went on to graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree at UMass Amherst in 1988. He has been involved with both arboriculture and horticulture ever since. Attracted to Bartlett's scientific approach to tree care, Mark joined the Waltham office in 1999 as an Arborist Representative. Mark is an active member of the Massachusetts Arborist Association, and is a Certified Arborist with the International Society of Arboriculture. He is also a Massachusetts Certified Arborist. Mark enjoys giving garden club speeches, caring for town arboriculture projects, and is involved with consulting and maintaining period landscape restoration on a local level.

He founded Copponoi Services with a focus on customer satisfaction and excellence in the green industry. For more than 30 years, he and his team have been dedicated to servicing Norwood and the surrounding area.

Scott Firth is a 1986 graduate of University of Massachusetts (UMass) Amherst Stockbridge School of Agriculture with an associate degree in Arboriculture and Park Management. In 1988, he graduated from UMass with a degree in Urban Forestry. He is a member of the Alpha Tau Gamma fraternity and is a past Treasurer of ATG Inc. Scott is from North Attleboro, Massachusetts and began his love of plants in the family’s large vegetable garden. Must-see TV back then included each episode of Crockett’s Victory Garden on PBS.
At the age of 13, he started a lawn mowing business, eventually enrolling at the Bristol County Agricultural High School. Scott taught Vocation Agriculture at the High School level for two years in Massachusetts and 13 in New Hampshire. For the last 14 years, he has been self-employed and managing rental properties in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire.

Mark is a 1987 graduate of University of Massachusetts (UMass) Amherst Stockbridge School of Agriculture with an associate degree in Landscape Operations, and a 1989 graduate of UMass Amherst with a bachelor’s degree in Horticulture and Landscape design. He is a member of the Alpha Tau Gamma fraternity and a past chapter president.
Raised in Chester, Vermont on a dairy farm, the outdoors became a big part of who he is. He still resides in Chester, VT with his wife Wendi where he started his landscaping business, Creative Contours, in 1996. Mark has been an advisory board member for the Horticulture Program at the local Vocational Technical Education Center High School since 2010 and joined the Crockett Victory Garden Foundation in 2020.

Born and raised in the hills of Western Massachusetts, Kevin is a 1978 graduate of University of Massachusetts (UMass) Amherst Stockbridge School of Agriculture with a degree in Landscaping. He attended UMass Amherst Class of 1991 Urban Forestry and Vocational Education. Kevin has worked in the Horticulture field since the age of 14, and is presently employed as a paraprofessional at Franklin County Vo/Tech High School in Turners Falls, MA in Special Education. In his free time, Kevin loves singing, cooking, and, of course, gardening. He is married and also enjoys spending time with his three children.

Ed Loughran is a 1987 graduate of University of Massachusetts (UMass) Amherst Stockbridge School of Agriculture (A.S Landscape Operations) and a 1994 graduate of UMass Amherst (B.S Environmental Science). He is a member of the Alpha Tau Gamma fraternity and also served eight years in the USMC Reserve.
With a passion for stone masonry, Ed focused on landscape design, incorporating detailed stonework as a mainstay into all of his exterior projects. For the past 20 years, as the founder and principal owner of Charles River Wine Cellars, Ed has incorporated his love of stone into many award-winning custom wine cellar projects. Ed and his wife Carolyn live in Walpole, MA with their 2 children.

Scott is a 1987 graduate of the University of Massachusetts Amherst Stockbridge School of Agriculture (A.S. in Animal science) and a 1995 graduate of Anna Maria college (B.A. in psychology). He is also a member of the Alpha Tau Gamma fraternity.
Scott’s appreciation for agriculture started at age 14, when he built a large barn to house a variety of animals including chickens, goats, pigs and a horse. Even today, Scott enjoys growing vegetables and has received awards for raising honeybees. He also owns and operates a custom home building and remodeling company in Central Massachusetts that recently celebrated its 25th year anniversary. Scott currently resides in Holden, MA with his wife, Audra, and three children. His oldest daughter is a recent graduate of the Umass Isenberg School of Business. Scott enjoys motorcycle riding, triathlons, hunting, and fly fishing.

Ralph currently resides in New Hampshire, after moving from North Carolina with his wife, Lisa. After having his own landscaping company for many years, Ralph now works in the Cyber Security field. He still enjoys utilizing his landscape knowledge whether in design, construction or maintenance.
